Roughly 40 people showed up Saturday, July 22nd, to help us all celebrate our UnBirthday and spend some time at the lake. We all came together around 11 a.m. and shared in a delicious Pot Luck lunch with yummy goodies galore. For dessert, there were cupcakes made in the design and colors of the Geocaching logo. We had cachers new and old show up to share their stories, adventures, and tales about caches they’ve found and some of their best practices. We also had a raffle in which we gave away some Geocoins, travel bugs, and some larger containers filled with goodies. All in all, the UnBirthday party 2017 was a huge success and we look forward to 2018!!
SOGeo’s summer event, “A Very Merry UnBirthday Bash-a-Palooza 2!” (GC75WT4) is just around the corner! We are going to be meeting at Picnic Shelter A out at beautiful Emigrant Lake on Saturday, July 22nd, from 11am until 2pm, or whenever we all decide to call it quits, for a big Pot Luck lunch with games, prizes, water fun, desserts, and much more!!
We would love to see you come out and spend the afternoon having fun and enjoying the day with fellow cachers and their families. This is an event open to everyone and all we ask is that you bring a side dish or something to contribute to the lunch. Socks and Amanda will be providing the burgers, hot dogs, and buns, as well as the cake to celebrate everyone’s UnBirthday! 😊
If you would like to come and have some fun with us, please RSVP on the cache page link and let us know the number of people coming so we can get an accurate head count. Thank you so much and we hope to see you this coming weekend!!
On Saturday, July 15th, we gathered with our pirate crew at the Wharf Seafood Market and Eatery to start the Lost Treasure of Mary Hyde summer adventure.
Turnout was amazing as we had roughly 30 crew members show up!! All those in attendance earned a new souvenir for their profile. It was great seeing some out of town guests show up. CherokeeSarah and happybobodog from Indiana joined us, as well as Floflower and Crowbar from Redding, CA.
We had a steady supply of the “regular” crew show up, as well as some cachers that hadn’t been an event before or who were still fairly new to geocaching. All in all, a great time was had and we enjoyed some delicious seafood.
Stay tuned for more information about the Lost Treasure of Mary Hyde as we start a different adventure each week!
Saturday, July 8th, from 1-3 pm, Socks and Amanda put on a geocaching class for the kids of Kasper – Kids After School Program of Education and Recreation in Brookings. We had a variety of younger kids from ages 5 to 13, as well as their parents/grandparents, come to learn more about geocaching. We spent about 45 minutes indoors with a presentation and then took everyone outside to find 6 caches that were hidden near the library where the class was held. The journey was fun and the kids were so excited each and every time they made the find! We absolutely had an amazing time and look forward to hearing more about how we can help in different communities with teaching about geocaching! A big thanks to Kasper – Kids After School Program of Education and Recreation!!!
Our meet and greet at Tom Pearce Park in Grants Pass to celebrate Canada Day was a wonderful success! 25 people showed up to share in some sweet treats and enjoy the beautiful weather. Thanks to all that came and made the event a fun time!!
