Medford Park(ing) Day 2018
September 21 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
What is PARK(ing) Day?
On September 21, Downtown Medford will celebrate PARK(ing) Day! PARK(ing) Day is a worldwide, annual event that encourages businesses and community members to transform parking spaces into temporary parklets. We encourage community members to come explore the wonderful parklets set-up for the day and all that Downtown Medford has to offer. Also consider using Park(ing) Day to explore your transportation options and visit by bus, bike, walking, or carpooling.
Events like PARK(ing) Day enrich our community life by creating an inviting streetscape and by promoting activities that allow for social exchange, fun, creativity and critical thinking. PARK(ing) Day can furthermore promote a rethinking of the usage of the public-right-of-way and may motivate the public to more actively participate in the civic processes which shape our urban environment.
PARK(ing) Day Seeks To:
- Encourage residents, designers, businesses, artists, activists, and community organizations to use their streets for creative placemaking and street prototyping
- Strengthen community connections
- Increase awareness about the importance of walkable, livable, and healthy cities
